“Crumpled Paper Sound” project
Editorial design – Jury commendation
Year
2008
Context
Research into the concept of the sound book. How can sound be expressed through the silence of the page?
I explored more than 200 typographic symbols expressing sonic onomatopoeia, classified into sub-families.
The book is structured in three parts:
-
Left page: literary onomatopoeia (text – narrative framework);
-
On tracing paper overlaying the left page: codification of the onomatopoeia and indication of duration over time;
-
Right page: spatialization and frequency cues.
This project earned me the jury’s commendation.
